The Alperovitch Institute and Johns Hopkins School of Advanced and International Studies hosted the Outstanding Americans by Choice (ABC) award ceremony recognizing Dmitri Alperovitch. U.S. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas presented Mr. Alperovitch with the ABC recognition, with senior government officials, private sector executives, and leaders from the academic and think tank communities in attendance.
The Outstanding Americans by Choice initiative recognizes the exceptional achievements of naturalized U.S. citizens. Through civic participation, professional achievement, and responsible citizenship, recipients of this honor have demonstrated their commitment to the United States and to the common civic values that unite us as Americans.
During the ceremony, Maureen Hinman, Co-Founder of Silverado Policy Accelerator, announced the 2024 Catherine Hinman Memorial Fellowship, which creates opportunities for graduate students pursuing public policy careers to gain practical experience and grow professional networks in Washington, DC. The Fellowship aims to support individuals, who would not otherwise have the financial means to spend a summer in Washington, DC, to showcase technical skills, immerse into federal policy-making and international affairs, and sow seeds of professional growth for years to come.
The award ceremony was followed by a fireside chat discussion on cybersecurity and national security hot topics between Dmitri Alperovitch and Rob Silvers, Under Secretary for Strategy, Policy, and Plans at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
